How can one be objective but not offensive. I don't know. Here's an attempt.
The first time I tried vegetarian food was when I was about 10 years ago in a vegetarian restaurant in Davao City. I remember eating something that resembled pork barbeque but tasted like the smell of paper. I can't say tasted like paper, I've never eaten paper. That is writing paper, but I remember eating the inner wrapper of White Rabbit Candy. If that was paper, then I've eaten paper. But it was a hell lot better than the fake barbeque.
After 10 years, my family and I found ourselves in Wabi-Sabi inside the The Collective along Malugay Street, Makati City. This small restaurant serves Asian vegetarian food. I ordered Mushroom Shumai aP55.00) and Shoyo Ramen (P95.00). We'll to be honest, the dishes looked appetizing. However, I still have to train my tongue to appreciate vegetarian food. I still have a lot to learn about vegetarian dishes...
The Mushroom Shumai was not able to veer my mind off the normal Sho Mai.
The Dumplings were yummy.
The Ramen was Ramen. I'm not sure about the other stuff in it.
The Collective...
